Messerschmitt AG was a German aircraft manufacturing company best known for its military aircraft during World War II, especially the Bf 109 fighter and Me 262 jet fighter. It was founded around aircraft designer Willy Messerschmitt and became one of the most important aviation firms in Germany. After the war, it later evolved through mergers and became part of what eventually contributed to Airbus.
