Hindustan Motors is an Indian automobile manufacturer based in Kolkata and part of the Birla Group. It was one of the earliest and most important carmakers in India and dominated the market before the rise of Maruti. The company is best known for producing the iconic Hindustan Ambassador, a model based on the Morris Oxford, which remained in production for decades and became a symbol of Indian roads. Over time, the company also worked with brands like Mitsubishi, Isuzu, and General Motors.
